The Answer
The mind is full of endless questions,
Hopeless dreams, and quiet obsessions.
In my mind, several questions arise,
As to where the deeper meaning lies.
What is an accident, or even a mistake?
Is it confidence, or predestined fate?
It happens for a reason, I say with great pride.
But, when that reason is unknown, I turn and hide.
A drunk driver wrecks, and a mom has cancer.
They both ask God for a soothing answer.
One student has a game, and the other a test.
Both gently bow their heads, and pray for the best.
A knee is dislocated and an arm is broken.
God listens to both of the prayers that are spoken.
A couple breaks up, neither knowing what to do.
He will have yet another answer for them too.
There's a Holy war in Israel, and which side is right?
Should America stay out of it, or continue to fight?
Our hearts have turned cold, our minds have gone numb,
To the battles against evil that have recently begun.
An old man hurts his toe. A soccer player hurts her knee,
And all of this happened in the matter of a week.
The week has been rough, but Lord, we've made it through.
We give all thanks, praise, honor and glory to You.
We'll have more rough weeks during the course of our lives,
And Father now I know where all the meaning lies:
We don't need to know the reasons. They'll only convolute
The truth that we know and our faith in You.
If we open our hearts, and let Jesus in,
He will give us the answers, and forgive us our sin.
So, let us keep in mind what has happened this week,
But remind us daily that You are all we need.
